Scholarships
The American Venous Forum is proud to offer an increased number of scholarships for physician trainees to attend our 2024 AVF Annual Meeting. We will be offering 19, rather than 15 VENOUS2024 scholarships.
Our dedicated Residents & Fellows programming will take place during the first two days of our meeting and registered trainees are encouraged to participate in the entire VENOUS2024 agenda. Trainees are also encouraged to participate as author or co-author of an abstract submitted for consideration for presentation at the meeting, but this is not required and will not be factored into the award decision.
The AVF is committed to providing a culturally diverse educational environment and equal opportunities for all members. Applications from veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, minorities, and members of other underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged.
Eligibility:
- Be a current Resident or Fellow at the time of application as well as in February 2024
- Be a current AVF Member at the time of application (non-members can join for only $35)
- Commit to attend VENOUS2024 – the AVF Annual Meeting in March of 2024, actively participate in all Residents and Fellows sessions
- Acknowledge that awardee will be responsible for their own costs in excess of the scholarship award
Awards:
- Alessandra Puggioni Scholarship: one applicant from a Latin American program will receive:
- VENOUS2024 Registration
- Three nights hotel accommodations
- Up to $500 in travel reimbursement
- Glenn Jacobowitz Scholarship: one applicant who explains in their essay how they have witnessed inequity in venous care, or access to care, and how they have addressed it during their training or plan to address it after they graduate, will receive”
- VENOUS2024 Registration
- Three nights hotel accommodations
- Up to $500 in travel reimbursement
- US Scholarships: 11 applicants currently enrolled in a program within the United States will receive:
- VENOUS2024 Registration
- Two nights hotel accommodations
- International Scholarships: 6 applicants currently enrolled in a program outside the United States will receive:
- VENOUS2024 Registration
- Two nights hotel accommodations

- A brief essay (less than 250 words) detailing:
- Your interest in venous disease; how it developed, current experience, and future goals
- How this scholarship and participation at the AVF Annual Meeting will serve you and your patients
- A copy of your CV
- A letter of recommendation from your program chair

Scholarship awardees will be assigned an AVF member as a mentor to collaborate with while at the meeting. Specific programming and events aimed at trainees will be offered. Trainees are encouraged to participate as author or co-author of an abstract submitted for consideration for presentation at the meeting, but this is not required and will not be factored into the award decision.
