Overview
AVF Career Development Award
The AVF Career Development Award is a one year $25,000 award intended to support early-career investigators who are building a foundation for future research success in venous and lymphatic disease.
Eligible applicants include:
- Active AVF membership
- Residents and fellows with medical degrees
- PhD postdoctoral researchers
- Faculty members within 10 years of their initial appointment at the time of application submission
- Medical students and pre-doctoral students are not eligible.
- Have not received funding or are currently funded by the NIH, AHA, or other recognized federal/society mechanism
- Have not received a prior AVF grant (e.g., Jobst, BSCI, AVF BS) in the past (Juzo traveling fellowship is ok)
AVF Research Award
The AVF Research Award is a one year $25,000 award that is open to all eligible AVF members and is designed to advance high-quality research that aligns with the mission of the American Venous Forum.
Proposed research is not limited to single-center studies. Multicenter studies and collaborative projects involving investigators from multiple institutions are eligible for funding, provided the applicant clearly defines their role and the proposed use of award funds.
Eligible applicants include:
- Active AVF membership
- Physicians and surgeons
- Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)- both Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs)
- Registered Nurses (RNs)
- Registered Vascular Technologists (RVTs)
- Physical Therapists (PTs)
- Pharmacists (PharmD)
- Podiatrists (DPMs)
- Other qualified AVF members
- Medical students and pre-doctoral students are not eligible.
Award Details
Both funding mechanisms provide support for a one-year research project (with an 18-month award cycle).
Award Restrictions
- No indirect costs permitted
- No principal investigator salary support
- Travel support is provided through a predetermined stipend
- Not to be utilized for salary or other unrelated research
Additional Requirements
- Early Career Award applicants must include a letter from their Program Director confirming:
- A one-year commitment to the project
- Protected research time during the grant period
- Attendance at the AVF Annual Meeting upon completion of the project for a final presentation is mandatory.
